The BMW Group is accelerating the deployment of its range of electrified vehicles. It will soon be able to offer no less than 9 plug-in hybrid models, including the MINI Countryman Cooper SE. This technology, as we know, is controversial but no one has found a better solution to ensure zero emissions in the city while preserving freedom of movement on long journeys. If to deliver its full efficiency in terms of carbon footprint, the rechargeable hybrid vehicle must be recharged regularly, it does not need to wait as long as a 100% electric vehicle at a charging station. Many manufacturers therefore multiply rechargeable hybrid versions. This is the case of the Bavarian manufacturer who will soon offer a model of this type in almost every range of vehicles.
After X5 and X1, the X3 will soon be declined with this technology. It will be a first for this compact SUV pioneer who will find on its way the Audi Q5 55TFSIe, the Mercedes GLC 350e, the Lexus NX300h and the Volvo XC60 T8. The X3 xDrive30e boasts record CO emissions between 49 and 54 g / km, depending on the level of equipment and pneumatic tires, with standardized fuel consumption ranging from 2.1 to 2.4 l / 100 km. Housed under the rear seats and having a slight impact on the capacity of the trunk (450 liters), the lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 12 kWh guarantees an electric autonomy of 55 km and peak speeds up to 135 km / h in the silence of electric propulsion. The combined power stands at 292 horsepower and the torque at 420 Nm thanks to the combination of the 4-cylinder 2-liter turbo 184 hp and an electric machine 109 hp (80 kW). Very compact, the latter is integrated in the 8-speed automatic transmission. The driver has several driving laws: electric, hybrid, energy saving for the crossing of an agglomeration. The battery is recharged on a domestic socket in 6 hours; in 3 hours 30 on a dedicated installation (wallbox BMW i). Marketed next spring, the X3 xDrive30e is already available to order from € 58,940. At the end of 2020, the X3 will be the first family car of the manufacturer proposed in 100% electric version.
