With the all-new BMW M4 Coupé, the new BMW M3 Sedan will celebrate its world premiere in September 2020. And the new edition of the BMW M4 Cabriolet will follow next year.
In Garching, near Munich, where BMW is located, work is being done on another supercharged car: the BMW M3 Touring.
The specific performance of a BMW M model, combined with an increase in available space and the functionality of a Touring model, was previously exclusively reserved for the BMW M5. Both in its second generation in 1992 and in its fourth in 2007, the high-performance sedan was accompanied by a Touring version.
This is not the first time that the M community and the developers of BMW M GmbH have been tempted by the idea of M3 in station wagon version. Exactly 20 years ago, a corresponding prototype was launched based on the third generation of the BMW M3.
The aim at the time was to prove that the great flexibility and seamless integration of high performance sports cars with specific body characteristics could be incorporated into the manufacturing process of the BMW M3.
The sixth generation of the BMW M3 will therefore be the right one!
The first BMW M3 Touring is still only at the start of its roughly two-year series development process.
