The preparer ABT Sportsline turns 125 next year. To mark the occasion, what better than to unveil a new exclusive model? The company has set its sights on the very recent Audi RS Q8 and, as he accused a cruel lack of horses, she brought him up to standard.
Will you take back a few horses? It sounds like granny who, when you go to eat at her place, absolutely wants you to finish the roast dish because there is "a little" left over. Well ABT is familiar with the formula, and applies it again to the latest addition to Audi's super SUV lineup, the RS Q8. Be careful though, the recipe includes a lot of steroids. Before talking about the result, let's do a little reminder. The RS Q8 comes standard with a 600 horsepower 4L V8, developing 800 Nm of torque. It can reach 250 km / h in top speed (305 km / h optional), after speeding from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds. So, let's just dwell for a second on a silly question … When did someone think this stuff lacked power? Well the answer is very simple, and takes three letters: ABT!
Audi RS Q8-R: 600, then 700, and now 740 horsepower!
A few months ago, the tuner tackled the RS Q8, and gave it extra power to reach 700 hp. However, remaining on its hunger, ABT Sportline did it again and just unveiled an even nastier version of the big baby with the four rings, the RS Q8-R. The technical sheet could be confused with that of an Italian or German supercar as the numbers are so crazy. See instead. The power of the V8 has been inflated to reach 740 horsepower, all for a maximum torque of 920 Nm! The set can take this mastodon to a top speed of 315 km / h! Yes yes, we will not contradict you, this is all indecent. To achieve this crazy result, the preparer fitted the German SUV with AEC (ABT Engine Control), a computer combined with a specific radiator.
But ABT Sportline didn't limit itself to simple engine optimizations. A whole bunch of frills are also part of the game, starting with a most demonstrative body kit, as well as a most discreet green tint. In addition, there are many new aerodynamic appendages such as a huge rear diffuser, a spoiler, or even air intakes on the fenders, all in carbon of course. This RS Q8-R also adopts a new stainless steel ABT exhaust system, featuring four 102mm diameter outlets. The whole thing is perched on huge 23-inch ABT High Performance HR rims, visually enhancing the car's seating.
Inside, the preparer didn't skimp either. We therefore find an ABT steering wheel combining leather and carbon, seats and floor mats set with the ABT logo, as well as multiple keys and carbon inserts throughout the cabin. The door sills are also marked with the formula "1 of 125" (replace the "1" with the model number corresponding to yours).
As said above, only 125 copies of this monster will be produced, which should not fail to skyrocket prices, which have not yet been communicated by ABT. It is extraordinary to note that this preparer is able to always push the limits, and to amaze us with his achievements. This extreme version of the RS Q8 is proof of that.
