Quattro and Audi have been names linked for almost forty years: when one thinks of the mechanical aspect of the brand with the rings, it is inevitably the name of its all-wheel drive directly derived from the competition that comes to mind first. . And if the power of its models is not divided by four, it is traditionally only the front wheels that are traditionally responsible for sending it to the ground on its less powerful models.

There was however an exception in 2018 with a limited series of 999 copies of the R8 called RWS whose atmospheric 5.2 V10 sent 540 hp and 540 Nm to the rear wheels via a seven-speed S tronic double-clutch gearbox and a differential mechanical limited slip.
A real philosophical upheaval for the brand that we therefore imagined very punctual as a sudden madness that evaporates upon the return of a semblance of lucidity. But this is ultimately not the case since the R8 propulsion is not only back under the name of RWD but also quite simply integrates the range without limit of production, in coupe and in Spyder.
The technical sheet remains the same as that of the RWS with a total weight reduced by 65 kg compared to the quattro version, a 40/60 weight distribution, a 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 s for the coupe and 3.8 s for the Spyder, and up to 320 km / h at top speed.
Between the RWS and the RWD, however, a restyling of the R8 took place, which makes it possible to distinguish them aesthetically with in particular a front bumper with triangular air intakes at its ends and a lower but wider Single Frame grille topped. three additional slots.
Good news: the abandonment of front-wheel drive (and 30 hp) allows the final bill to be reduced by almost € 33,000 compared to the quattro version. Bad news: the first price is still € 146,080 for the coupe and € 160,480 for the Spyder. But it's really now or never since the future of the R8, like its little sister, the TT, is seriously threatened.
The 1st Caradisiac auto show could not have taken place without the active support of the Cotentin agglomeration community and the Association des Amis du Hangar à Dirigeables d'Ecausseville. Many thanks to all those who facilitated the reception of Caradisiac in the airship hangar of Ecausseville, a unique historical monument in the world!
Our warmest thanks to the Prévost Group, which supported us from the very beginning in this adventure of organizing the 1st Caradisiac auto show. His experience has facilitated the management of the delivery flows of more than one hundred cars in the Hangar d'Ecausseville, nestled in the Normandy countryside!
