Here is the toy that all big children will dream of before Christmas: the Aston Martin DB5 Junior, the result of a collaboration between Aston Martin and the specialist The Little Car Company.
If your children are really very good until December 2021, then you may be ready to give them this magnificent electric toy that is the DB5 Junior, a very faithful reproduction of a DB5 from 1963. The objective was indeed set. To ensure absolute authenticity, the DB5 Junior also sports the same iconic chrome, badges, spoke rims and "Silver Birch" paint as the original model.
Like its big sister, the DB5 Junior's dashboard is filled with working Smith instruments. The only sprains were originally, the fuel gauge was converted back to a battery meter, while the oil temperature gave way to that of the engine. Measuring approximately 3 meters long and 1 meter wide, the DB5 Junior can also accommodate an adult and a child side by side. Thanks to its very rigid aluminum frame, there is no risk of it folding in half!
The power of the electric powertrain reaches 6.8 hp, enough to send the 270 kg of the assembly via the rear wheels up to 48 km / h in peak! Regenerative braking increases the range up to 32 km, depending on the driving style. A second battery can be added and each pack accessible under the floor can be replaced in a few seconds.
Aston Martin and The Little Car Company went so far as to replicate the original double wishbone front suspension with anti-roll bar and camber to match the original geometry. At the rear there is also a vintage upper and lower swingarm axle and a Panhard rod.
We should add that a Vantage version will also be offered, this one doubling the power of 14 hp and having a limited slip differential! But that's not all, because the DB5 Vantage Junior comes with a carbon fiber body (instead of plastic composite) and a second battery carrying the range to the maximum 64 km.
As for the original DB5, only 1059 DB5 Junior cars will be manufactured and the price is just as litiste … Count around 50,000 base and 10,000 more for the Vantage!
