If you think that the BMW X7 is the most luxurious SUV in the range of the Bavarian manufacturer, you are mistaken. Here is its version signed Alpina which should convince you.
The most ultimate BMW X7 is finally here! Its name, the Alpina XB7 2021: the fastest and most powerful version of the luxurious German SUV is ready. The XB7 joins the B7 in the Alpina range, taking up all the luxury and performance of the X7 but pushing it a notch above.
It draws its power from the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the most upscale versions of the X7. However, we are talking about Alpina all the same! So the German preparer has slightly modified the block so that it develops the trifle of 620 horses and a torque of 800 Nm. As always, power is transmitted to all four wheels via the xDrive system, which is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
According to Alpina, this XB7 only needs 4.2 seconds to shoot down 0 to 100 km / h and can wait for the maximum speed of 302 km / h.
More techno and more efficient
In order to extract as much power from the X7, Alpina made all-new modifications to BMW's V8 (N63) engine. The cooling system is now more efficient, as is the one that takes care of the oil. Alpina even installed its own intercoolers. Those from BMW were apparently not efficient enough. A sports exhaust system specific to the preparer was developed exclusively for the XB7, just to give it a harsher sound.
The Alpina XB7 has an active limited slip differential on the rear axle which improves grip by distributing the torque between the four wheels in real time. So if the driving comfort of the classic X7 is already one of the best on the market, the development of Alpina should allow it to be even more pleasant.
The luxurious can also be looked!
Alpina has not forgotten to give this German ship a new look. For starters, the German tuner has equipped this SUV with 21-inch Alpina Dynamic rims wrapped in high performance tires. As an option, you can even benefit from 23-inch forged alloy wheels.
To brake this imposing vehicle, Alpina fitted it with four-piston Brembo brake calipers. These are painted in Alpina blue. For other exterior modifications, look at the front and rear bumpers, which benefit from new air intakes and a few more bodywork elements. At the back, we also notice a brand new diffuser with four tailpipes.
Almost identical interior
Inside, Alpina hasn't changed the already successful work of BMW too much. On the other hand, the XB7 takes an advantage over its main competitor: unlike the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 580 which has only four seats, the Alpina version of the X7 retains 3 rows of seats. Thus, customers of this XB7 can choose to take advantage of 6 or 7 seats depending on whether they opt for a bench seat or for the two individual seats.
In terms of equipment, this Alpina version has all the usual panoply of the X7 to which are added a few more luxurious touches: Alcantara skylight, wood trim or black piano…
In terms of price, BMW announces that the Alpina XB7's order books will open in May 2020 before starting deliveries in September. The prices of this very high-end SUV start from $ 141,300 (around 130,000 euros) or almost 40,000 dollars (36,500 euros) more than the X7 M50i.
