How to cook dumplings in the oven?
To properly bake your dumplings in the oven, it is essential to follow these tips:
Convection or not ? When cooking your dumplings, it is better to opt for a fan oven rather than a natural convection oven. In fact, the fan-assisted oven diffuses the heat throughout the oven and allows homogeneous cooking both on the surface and at the core.
The recipe for tomato oven dumplings: Wash five tomatoes and crush them. Peel a clove of garlic and an onion, then chop them. Sweat the onion in a pan with 1 tsp. olive oil. Add the tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, then mix the whole with 5 cl of liquid cream. Place 4 dumplings in a buttered gratin dish and pour over the tomato sauce. Baked dumpling without sauce: what you need to know
You do not have to accompany your dumpling with a sauce (béchamel, Nantua, tomato …). You can just coat it with crème fraîche or prepare hasselback dumplings.
The recipe for baked dumplings with crème fraîche: this recipe can be made with or without ham, as you wish. To make it, place your four dumplings each wrapped in a slice of ham in a buttered gratin dish. Coat them with 50 cl of crème fraîche, then grated Gruyère cheese. Bake 30 min at 180 degrees.
