Alfa Romeo's SUV adds another medal to its prize pool by winning the title of SUV of the Year in the competition organized by the trade magazine Auto Zeitung.

Every year, the German automotive magazine Auto Zeitung carries out a vote to elect the best vehicles by category. This year’s election saw the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (QV for insiders) once again take first place among high performance SUVs, ahead of other German, British and Italian sports labels. Alfa Romeo's sporty SUV has indeed won ahead of 11 powerful competitors, including cars as sharp as the Audi RS Q8, Bentley Bentayga V8, BMW X6 M Competition, Dodge Durango SRT, Ford Explorer, Lamborghini Urus, Maserati Levante Trofeo, Mercedes AMG GLC 63 S +, Porsche Cayenne GTS and Volkswagen Touareg V8.

The Stelvio thus won its second victory in this category where it had been awarded two years earlier. This is what the Italian brand indicated, recalling in passing that the 510 hp twin-turbo petrol V6 driving the Stelvio QV allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 283 km / h! It must also be said that when it comes to running gear and driving aids, the first SUV in Alfa Romeo's history set the bar high, very high even. Active suspensions with patented controlled damping (Alfa Active Suspension), state-of-the-art driving mode selector (DNA Pro Dynamic Driving Control) with ultra-efficient “Race” mode, specific braking designed with Brembo, Q4 four-wheel drive transmission… as many mechanical and electronic devices that give the Stelvio extraordinary agility and handling. It is ultimately no coincidence that this sporty SUV managed to break the lap record on the Nürburgring circuit in 2017 with a time of 7 minutes and 51 seconds, doing better than Porsche's Cayenne Turbo S and placing at the same level as a BMW M4 coupe!
