Nico Hulkenberg admits that the Alfa Romeo team is now his last serious option to stay in Formula 1 in 2020. The Renault driver will be replaced by Esteban Ocon, and the other available places are at Toro Rosso, where he is not welcome, and at Williams, where he does not want to go.
"Yes, I must be confident" explains Antonio Giovinazzi, driver Alfa Romeo and favorite to his own estate for 2020. "I think the second half of the season was solid on my side, I just have to keep attacking like that, and we'll see."
Discussions have taken place between Hülkenberg and Alfa, but for the moment there is no sign that the team is separating from Giovinazzi. The German admits that he no longer has the cards in his hand: "We've talked a few times, but now I'm waiting to see what they decide."
He could also join Ferrari as a development pilot, but he says he will not accept a third-pilot role anywhere: "Maybe I will not fly anywhere, but for now, only God knows."
