Acura pundits have been talking about it for a long time and we announced that the manufacturer was working with Oreca to develop an LMDh car. But this time, it is sure and official: Acura will be present in the category from 2023, in the IMSA championship.

The brand confirmed this in a clear and brief statement. It is the third manufacturer to formalize its involvement in the category, after Audi and Porsche. Unlike the other two, which target the IMSA and the WEC, Acura has specified that it will focus on the American series, with the aim of coming in addition to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Acura is part of the continuity. The brand has already been an integral part of IMSA in the premier class, the Dpi, for three years now, with a title last year and nine victories.

Initially a partner of Team Penske, Acura entrusted its cars to Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing. The Japanese firm did not specify with whom it would enter LMDh.
