The year 2022 is important for the Lexus NX, which is coming back to us under a brand new generation which will notably include a plug-in hybrid version.

Here are five things to know about the 2022 Lexus NX.

New generation

The NX 2022 takes on a more aggressive aesthetic than the outgoing model. Lexus notably reworked the grille which is now flattened and much wider. The pattern inside has been designed to give a three-dimensional effect and create an effect of depth. This pattern will change style depending on the version chosen.

At the rear, the utility incorporates new lights that span the width of the tailgate, just like the IS and UX. Another notable feature: the “L” emblem has been replaced by a new unified LEXUS logo, located in the center of the vehicle.

Customers can choose from several colors, including Nori Green Pearl, Storm Gray and Greek Blue. The color palette exclusive to F SPORT models includes Red Line, Ultra White, Cadmium Orange and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0.

Four powertrains

With the Lexus NX 2022, consumers will essentially be able to choose between two gasoline engines and two other hybrids. The first version supplied is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission, it can go from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.8 s.

Among the novelties, we first find a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine producing 275 hp and 317 lb-ft. This version, called the NX 350, is paired with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h takes 7 seconds, according to the manufacturer.

On the hybrid side, Lexus first offers the NX 350h which is also equipped with a 2.5-liter engine, but with a combined power of 239 hp. According to the manufacturer, gasoline consumption would be 6.5 L / 100 km. In terms of performance, the exercise from 0 to 100 km / h is carried out in 7.4 s.

Finally, the Japanese brand also offers the NX 450h + which is a plug-in hybrid. Its power is 302 horsepower and you can travel approximately 58 kilometers in purely electric mode. Using a 240 volt terminal, approximately 2.5 hours is sufficient to recharge the 18.1 kWh battery. Dynamically, 0 to 100 km / h takes 6.2 s.

Introduction of Lexus Interface

Developed in North America, the new multimedia system Lexus Interface includes a multitude of technologies. First and foremost, it’s served by a 9.8-inch (optional 14-inch) touchscreen, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps, both wirelessly.

Moreover, the Lexus Interface also incorporates a new virtual assistant. The latter is intended to be the primary means of interacting with the multimedia system. Thus, the occupants in the front will be able to manage a series of parameters, such as navigation, air conditioning, windows and access to the telephone.
