"I would like to know which car enters the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Sport and the2017 Acura ILX is the most fun to drive and the most reliable in the long run? Which do you think gives the best value for money? "
Hello Anthony, The first thing that strikes me when reading your question is the age difference between the two models you mentioned. So I understand that these two vehicles are priced at about the same price despite their model year difference. It shows the resale value the Acura retains, which is higher than that of the Hyundai, despite its age.
In terms of drivability, I was impressed with the quality of the suspension and the mechanics of the Hyundai Elantra Sport. They make the compact agile, precise in its reactions and pleasant to drive. The small 1.6-liter engine gives good performance too, though the dual-clutch transmission is recalcitrant in town, unless you opt for the manual. Another disappointment: the steering which could be a little heavier and less artificial in its feel.
That's why I prefer the Acura ILX, at least, in this regard. It's just as precise and fun to drive, but with a little more communicative, a little more direct steering. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with just over 200 horsepower is also fun to use, and the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is more refined than that of the Elantra.
In terms of reliability, these are two vehicles that are, in my opinion, nose to nose. I have no concerns for the mechanics of either car, nor the reliability of the electronic components. I don't think that's a yardstick by which to discriminate one or the other of the two cars.
There is, however, one aspect that does not lie: the model year of the two vehicles considered. Although the Acura ILX is the one I like the most between the two, I think the advantage goes directly to the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Sport here due to being two years younger. This saves you two years of wear and also two years of mileage, which compensates for the slightly lower dynamic qualities.
